The PFCWA Mentorship Program – 2022

The PFCWA committee is very pleased to announce our new PFCWA Mentorship Program.

Through 2022, we have had many discussions about how important role models, mentors, informal agents and our stalwarts have been in our careers and lives – the industry professionals who have been in our corners, accepting, validating, encouraging and guiding us through our screen practices. The benefits of mentorship programs flow in both directions and are based on mutually beneficial exchange.

Our two inaugural Mentors are no strangers to PFCWA – Susie Campbell and Perry Sandow, both of whom are enormously invested in our local industry and have inestimable experience to draw upon.

This program will partner an Associate Member with Susie and another with Perry for a 12 month period. This will consist of at least 4 three hour meetings over the course of the year. We encourage all our Associate members to apply for this opportunity regardless of their current roles within the industry. These giants have unique, worldly views and their sage council benefits everybody, creating relationships that support career development and enhance both personal and professional growth.

Guidelines:

Applications will open on Monday, 7 November 2022. They will close at 5pm, Monday, 28th November 2022.

All applications will be assessed by the Current Board and all decisions are final.

We will be announcing the TWO inaugural recipients of our 2023 mentorships at our AGM on Sunday, 11th of December. We intend for this program to continue annually.

We will be encouraging an informal meeting between the Mentor, Mentee and a committee member to establish a rapport before commencing the formal relationship.

The program will consist of no less than 4 x 3 hour meetings through 2023.

Mentees and Mentors will be asked to submit a short, confidential report on completion of the mentorship to help our program develop.

Mentees and Mentors who complete the program also receive free 12 Months Associate/Full Membership respectively for 2024.

As per the Australia Council for the Arts – Guide to Mentoring:

  • Mentoring should be voluntary
  • Both Mentor and Mentee should share information in confidence
  • The Mentor is at no stage legally responsible for the actions of the mentee
  • Both Mentor and Mentee must respect professional, artistic and commercial ethics and not take advantage of the relationship.
