Vice-Pres Report: June 2020
Written by John Fairhead
Well Folks, we certainly won’t be forgetting 2020!
A challenging period on many levels for all of us. I hope you are all keeping healthy, both mentally and physically, as well as managing to get by financially. The tyranny of distance, so often neglecting us from share of national production activity, has proven to be a blessing against the potential impact of COVID-19.
Although restrictions are easing in WA, I encourage everyone to still be mindful, continue to keep up physical distancing where possible and maintain good personal hygiene to better protect yourself and the general health of our film family colleagues. Any productions occurring will be expected to ensure appropriate COVID-19 Risk Mitigation Plans are implemented and continue to be updated as / when required. These plans help mitigate the risk of COVID-19, should be in line with health advice and provide extra confidence to all involved with a production.
The COVID-19 Risk Mitigation Plan should utilise the Australian Screen Production Industry COVIDSafe Guidelines, and be implemented after consultation with production HOD’s, regarding appropriateness of controls, communication, training etc. Make sure you look through the Australian Screen Production Industry COVID-Safe Guidelines.
Please feel free to contact me to discuss any questions or concerns regarding production activity or working on a project during COVID-19.
Finishing my article on a positive note. Keep an eye out for the Voice for WA Screen Industry Infrastructure campaign in support of the efforts of Screenwest, state and local governments, screen industry stakeholders and others towards the establishment of appropriate screen production infrastructure. It’s big!
Stay safe, healthy and happy.
